Meet the author
Laura Whitfield has been teaching kindergarten for the past thirteen years. She has been a stay-at-home mom, a homeschool mom, a working mom, and the mother of twins (plus one).
Laura has been writing since she composed her first poem on her father’s Royal typewriter at the age of ten. In addition to teaching, she has been a free-lance advertising copywriter, staff writer for an international relief agency, communications director for two national non-profits, and assistant to a New York Times bestselling author.
Laura grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, where her father was a newspaper editor and her mother was a first grade public school teacher. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics.
How to Prepare for Kindergarten© is Laura’s first work of nonfiction. It was first serialized in a weekly column in the Durham Herald-Sun. Laura currently lives in Durham, North Carolina.
